Shown here are two line stops and a bypass done many years ago by Todd when he was working for Kopple, near where the Rampart casino stands now . My dad Larrie welded the same bypass on the bank, which he did without ever checking the fit or without tacking or welding in place. You should consider that these two flanges are not parallel or square, yet he managed to fit in place without even 1/16 of an inch error. I have been impressed many times by my dad Larrie. This is the same job that looks like a big pipe leak, but they managed to get this valve bolted on.
This job was down on Las Vegas Boulevard, a muddy, wet, mess to work in, yet we had no problems fitting pipe and two butt straps in few hours.
This line stop was done at the MGM Grand on their hot water line serving the Hotel and other buildings. The same water line 2 blocks away was leaking a lot of hot water and I had to lay down under those pipes seen here with that super heated water spraying all over and the pipe too hot to touch. With the help of Southland Industries I got some extra pipe material straped on and sinched in place with my chain rachet binder and just kept welding around it until I welded the leak shut. I think a lot of people were impressed when we completed several patch repairs under extreme conditions well before the sun came up.
